The most exciting part about Christmas is the festivity, the joy, and the love that is all around you during the season. I love when lights are lit up everywhere, christmas songs are playing in every corner and you are surrounded by gigantic decorated trees. If you live in Toronto, you know that one place you have to visit during December is the Toronto Christmas Market at the Distillery District. It is one of the most anticipated events of the year in the city and is always an experience to go to.
If you have never heard about it, let me give you a little history lesson, feel free to skip it if you already know:
Ranked one of the top ten holiday christmas markets in the world, this event takes place from November 16 to December 23 of each year (which means you have one more week left so if you haven’t been yet then its time to make a trip to the market)! For the weekends, you have to purchase tickets, although it only costs $6. Each year, different vendors are assembled in the market and you can buy all sorts of winter and christmas goodies. There are also food and drink vendors so you can literally spend a good 5-6 hours at the market and absorb the beauty of everything! Several shows are also held from time to time so I definitely recommend checking out the calendar ahead of time. If you have kids, there is also an area where Santa and his elves gather which is super exciting for kids.
Here are five recommendations from me so you make the most of the Toronto Christmas Market:
- Dress warm and cozy, but of course fashionable, as it is going to be very cold (don’t do what I did, unless you’re crazy like me hehe)
- Enjoy some mulled wine or hot chocolate with baileys
- Take tons of pictures with your loved ones unless you are going alone (like meee)
- Warm up while enjoying beautiful art at one of the cafes at the market
- Soak up the beauty of the market!!!
