I’m Danya, aka the Desert Carnation, a freelance photographer and travel and lifestyle creator. A year ago, I quit my 9-5 job in Corporate Finance to pursue my dream of becoming a digital nomad and traveling the world. It has been scary but… the most rewarding journey so far!!
I started this blog in May 2017 as a creative outlet and to share my love for all things related to travel, fashion, beauty and lifestyle. My love for travel and photography began from a young age as I was fortunate enough to go on family trips every summer. My mom would dress my sisters and I and snap a bajillion photos to capture these special moments. In university, I got my first DSLR camera which was the Canon Rebel T4i, but back then I didn’t really play with it much. It wasn’t until after graduation when I started taking it with me on my trips that I realized I had a deep passion for traveling and creating beautiful imagery. Soon after, I self-taught myself photography, editing and blogging so I can use these skills to turn my hobby into my dream job.
In 2018, I decided to invest into my business and went on a Pangea Dreams retreat to Bali where I learned about social media and branding and met like-minded girls from all over the world which empowered me even more. I watched a ton of tutorials on Youtube, and signed up for photography and editing courses on Skillshare, which is an amazing platform to learn new professional skills (you can also use my link to get 2 weeks for free).
